From Reliques of the Rives:
Robert Rives was born near Sparta, Hancock county, Georgia, in 1804. In 1826 he removed to Stewart county where he was made sheriff of the county, 1836-40. In 1842 he removed to Lee, and in 1854 to Randolph county, and died at Springvale, Georgia, on August 29, 1875. Mr. Rives married in 1847, Mrs. Sarah (Cocke) Grimmett, b. Aug. 8, 1817, d. Nov. 1898, daughter of John Cocke (1783-1845, son of Zebulon Cocke, a Revolutionary soldier), and his wife, Lydia Davies (1795-1847), daughter of Benjamin W. and Elizabeth (Daniell) Davies, the last-named being a granddaughter of Sir William Daniell, last Royal Governor of the Carolinas.

Reliques may be incorrect about the date of removal to Stewart County. In 1835, Zachariah Conja sold to Robert Reeves of Hancock County, land in Stewart County (DB H, p447).

Robert Rives made a will in Randolph County 30 Jun 1875. In was proven 10 Nov 1875. It mentions his wife and children, but not by name (WB B, p31).
