NATIVE OF MONTGOMERY, COUNTY, S. E. RIVES, DIES
Aged Farmer Succumbs at Son's Home in Hopkinsville.
Hopkinsville, Ky., Jan. 31. - Stephen Edward Rives, 83 years old prominent Christian county farmer for several years, died at 10 o’clock this morning at the home of his son, Henry, on East Ninth Street from the infirmities of age.
Mr. Rives was born in Montgomery county, Tennessee, a son of Henry and Eleanor Tillotson Rives, a prominent Tennessee family. He moved to Christian county several years ago and made his residence near Pembroke until a few months ago, when he came to live with his son.
Mr. Rives was always known for his genial and kindly disposition. He was a lifelong Christian and a member of the Salem Baptist Church in the county.
He leaves one sister, Mrs. Mildred Garrott, and one brother, H. P. Rives, both of Shelbyville, Ky. He is also survived by two sons, Henry and Edward and three daughters, Miss Eunice Rives. of near Pembroke, Mrs. Charles Davidson and Mrs. Margaret Powell, both of Chicago.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at the old Pendleton farm, his former home, near Pembroke, with burial at the family graveyard.
