From Reliques of the Rives:
Captain Thomas Eldridge Rives resided in Sussex county, Virginia, where he occupied a position of influence not inferior to that of his father, serving in a similar capacity to the latter as Captain of the Sussex militia, an office for which he qualified in 1787 (O. B., p. 205). He appears also as one of the gentlemen justices of the county court as early as 1795, and as late as 1824. In addition to these important offices he held the post also of sheriff of the county, appearing in the records as such as early as 1802 and as late as 1825. He married Keziah Tucker, daughter of the Rev. Wright Tucker, who succeeded Rev. Devereux Jarratt as rector of Bath Parish, Dinwiddie county, Virginia, in 1805. Captain Rives, who was born in 1764, died in Sussex county in or about 1832.

Thomas Eldridge Rives was christened 8 Feb 1765 in Albermarle Parish, Surry County, Virginia.

Brunswick County, Virginia marriage bonds include one for Thomas E. Rives to Aphaliak N. Tucker in 1814 according to an index. The original should be examined if possible to double check the name
