Thomas Wesley Rives was born in 1861 and died May 31, 1904. He married Margaret Elizabeth Mason, daughter of Major and Mrs. Armistead Thompson Mason, of Benton county, Mississippi, but originally from near Petersburg, Virginia. Mrs. Margaret (Mason) Rives, who has kindly furnished this record of her father-in-law's family, and who resides at 1831 Oliver Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee, writes that her children have "the Rives' characteristic— a high sense of honor."
