Narrative
The Alumni Oxoniensis has the following to say about Thomas:Ryves, Thomas (Rives); B.A. from New Coll. 9 Dec, 1647; perhaps son of George, of Randleston, Dorset, but see also Edmund 1654.
Note that Childs in Reliques of the Rives concludes this is the son of John.
From Reliques of the Rives:
He received the degree of B. A. from New College, Oxford, 9 Dec. 1647. Foster mistakenly conjectures that he was "perhaps son of George of Ranston, Dorset." The Thomas here given, however, accords well with that Thomas Rives of St. Dunstan-in-the-West, London, vintner, who alleged his mother's consent to the marriage in 1669 of Elizabeth Ryves (sister). John Ryves, of Tarrant Gunville, had died in 1665 but before his death he is known to have been a resident (in 1662) of St. Dunstanin-the-West, according to the marriage license of his daughter, Dorothy Ryves. In 1677 letters of administration were granted to Jane Ryves "relict of Thomas Ryves, late of the parish of St. Dunstan-in-the-West, London" (P. C. C. Admn. Act Book, Jan. 1677, fol. 7.).
