Edgefield County, SC
History
Edgefield County was formed in 1785 from the southern section of Ninety-Six District and is bordered on the west by the Savannah River. During the eighteenth century, a group of German Palatines settled what was then known as Londonborough Township, which is now a part of Edgefield County. Edgefield was the site of several Revolutionary War skirmishes.Source: Wikipedia
