December 2011 - Mis-Information Update

Wiki Stats - End November 2011

The total number of pages in the Wiki (as at 1 December 2011) now stands at 3672 (previously 3645, 3648, 3521), a modest increase of 27 pages. Of these 1307 pages (was 1298, 1296, 1248) begin with the letter R and are probably related to a R*v*s individual and 576 pages (572, 568, 537) begin with a number, so are probably a date related gleaning. We currently have 1280 wiki pages categorised as "People" of which 967 begin with the letter R.

TRP Users

We currently have 56 user accounts on TRP, including three new members who successfully activate their accounts during November. We welcome Jeanette, Pamela R & Dale and look forward to their contributions to TRP.

If you are one of the six potential members who have registered their account but has yet to follow the link in the validation e-mail that was sent to you, please do so. If you can't find the "Confirm your email at thereevesproject.org" e-mail, please contact Martin at TheReevesProject123 -at gmail -dot com. Tackling Mis-Information Update

Back in August we highlighted the pitfalls of failing to adequately research the information we find. As we noted at that time, The Reeves Review II is particularly prone to "issues" and over the past few months the number of TRP pages noting corrections to erroneous material in that publication has grown. During November, Bev has updated the wiki page The_Reeves_Review with a very strong caution to those relying on this information in their pedigree.

Our two primary mentors, Carolyn and Bev, also have a great blog "Reeves, Reaves, and More Rives" over on BlogSpot

TRP Learning Series

The offer last month to run a Webinar aimed at new community members didn't generate much response. We've therefore accelerated a major revision of the notes to assist new members to contribute pages within The Reeves Project. It is envisaged that ultimately "The Learning Series" will provide detailed guidance on a whole range of topics, both basic and advanced.

I'm grateful to Richard for his editorial review of the drafts and we're pleased to announce the immediate availability of the six part "First Steps" section of The Learning Series. Much of this material previously appeared within the page "I'm New Here. What should I do first?". It has now been broken down into smaller chunks. Additional topics have been added and the guidance is in general more detailed (and as a consequence, unfortunately slightly more wordy, but don't let that put you off).

FAQ_New_Here has also been updated to serve as an index to the First Steps of The Learning Series. Please let us know if you find "First Steps" helpful or if you have any suggestions for improvement or for other topics you'd like covered.
