Courtney was a witness to the 28 Sep 1779 will of William Ives and signed as "Cortney Reed" her X Mark. 10 July 1783 Courtney Reed was a buyer at the estate sale of Fredrick Foster of Craven County and purchased a pair of flesh forks. The last item found for Courtney in Craven County was as a buyer at the estate sale of William Sheppard Foster on 11 Jun 1793 where as Courtney Reeves she purchased 5 bushels of rice.
Between 1795 and 1800, Courtney Reeves moved with her family to Baldwin County, Georgia and applied for the land lottery of 1805.
Courtney Reeves' will was written on the 3rd of January 1805. In that will which was probated on 16 Mar 1805, the only legatees are her children by James Read.
