Location and Adjacent Counties

Oxfordshire is an inland county in the south of England. Prior to the 1974 local government reorganisation, it was bordered to the east by Buckinghamshire, to the south by Berkshire, to the west by Gloucestershire, to the north west by Warwickshire and to the north east by Northamptonshire.

Note significant parts of modern south west Oxfordshire were formerly in Berkshire.

The historic county town is the city of Oxford
