In the name of god...the first daye of...in the yeare of our L....1558 I Jhon Ryve...dwellinge in Bransb...embrace....be imortall and I being?...in bodie and yet of prfict memory do make this my last testament in manr and f... flowinge first I bequeath my sowle to allmightie god to the blessed virgin Marie and to all the hoolie companie of heven. And my bodie to be buried wthin the churche of all Saints of Barton Sacy

Itm I bequeath to Robert my sonne, xxte lib. to be delivered unto him att the age of xxite yeres x lib in maney r x lib in cattell & also ???
Itm I bequeath to my sonne William xxti lib. to be paied unto him at the age of xxiti yeres. And if it chance Robert to die before Willia, or Willia before Robert under the age of xxiti yeres, then my will is the longest lyvd to have the shers portion and legacye.
Furthermore I bequeath to my dawghter Margery Rive xxti lib and a cowe to be delivered at her marriage xti in money and xti in cattell. also to the same I bequeath x ewes.
Itm I bequeath to my dawghter Jhone xxti lib and a cowe, to be delivered at her marriage xti in money & xti in cxattell, and to the same I bequeath x ewes. provided also that if margery die before Jhone or Jhone before margery unmarried then be it ordeined the longest lyvd to have the portion and legacy of the other.
Finally I bequeath...sonne Jhon Ryve al ...goodds moveable & ...ble whom I make ...to see the...testament pformed...thereto willed...?Nicholas? ...harry Rive harry ? ? of Barton Sacy Also I make ??seeer to see this last testament pformed and putt in execution harry Rive Willm Teringe? the yoger, to whom I give a piece v viii for their paines.
And in conclusion my will is that Jho my sonne shall fine meate and drinke to Jhon Wilsherd, as longe as he liveth and the same Jhon Wilsherd to do suche labor as he is able to do. other as Jhon my sonne to pay him his monye again.

Commentary

What remains of this will is fragmented with several holes. The month is missing entirely from the date. The probate date is difficult to read but appears to be "Septimus die Novembris Anno Dm 1558."
