Transcript

In the name of god amen. I Elizabeth Ryves of John Ryves sometimes of Damarie Court in Blandford in the Countie of Dorset Esquire Deceased wyddow, being sick in body but of good and perfect memory, purposing to make my last will and testament, doe proceede to the making thereof in manner and forme as followeth.
Imprimis I bequeath my soule into the handes of god that gave it, And my body to be buried in the parish church of St Michaell in Oxford or elswhere according to the Disposition of my executor.
Item I give unto the church where my body shalbe so buried six shillings eight pense.
Item I give and bequeath unto my sonne George Ryves, warden of St. Mary colledge of Winchester in Oxford commonly called newe colledge one paire of sheetes, ? a paire of sheetes of three leaves without a seame.
Item a payre of my fynest and best pillowcase?.
Item one damast bourd-clothe.
Item my best Damast-towell.
Item one dozen of my finest holland napkins ? the napkins which are marked with a T and a B.
Item I give unto my sonne Charles Ryves Doctor of Divintie one white silver salt seller.
Item half a dozen of sylver spoones.
Item one payre of my sheetes with the hack seame such as he shall choose.
Item one diaper bourd closthe,
Item one diaper towell,
Item one dozen of napkins to be chosen by him
Item I give unto my sonne Henry Ryves one white silver bowle,
Item my hoope of gould
Item half a dozen of sylver spoones.
Item I give unto my sonne James Rives the somme of twentie pounds of good and lawfull money of England to be payd unto him within three monethes next after my death.
Item I give unto my sonne William Ryves all my stuff which I now have within the now dwelling house of the sayd William in the Cittie of Oxford.
Item I give unto him my gylt salf seller.
Item my towell called and knowen by the name of the Quenes towell.
Item one dozen of fyne napkins.
Item I give unto Thomas Ryves my youngest sonne the somme of twentie poundes of good and lawfull money of England to be payd within sixe monthes next after my decease.
Item two paire of sheetes videlicet? one payre of newe sheetes never yet used being within the now dwellinge house of my sonne William, and one other paure there likewise being, not altogether so newe.
Item I give unto my daughter Bade my velvet kyrtle.
Item I give unto my daughter Bellot the some of twentie pounds of good and lawfull money of England to be payd within six monethes next after my decease.
Item I give unto my daughter Elizabeth Ryves the wief of my sonne William Ryves my newe tuftaffata gowne.
Item I give unto my daughter Christian the wife of my sonne Henry Ryves my taffata kyrtle and my best petticoate?.
Item I give unto William Baylie of Upway in the Countie of Dorset the somme of twentie poundes of good and lawfull money of England to be payd unto him within six monethes next after my departure out of this mortall life.
Item I give unto Catherine Drury the somme of twentie pounds of good and lawfull money of England, to be payd within three monethes after my decease.
Item all my wearing apparrell by my already not bequeath.
Lastly I give unto my beloved sonne Sir John Ryves Knight my signet and all other my goodes and chattells not alreadie given and bequeathed, whom also I doe by these presents make and institute executor of this my last will and testament, earnestly requesting and requiring him to see me honestly and decently buryed according to my calling, dulie to pay such legacies as I have given and to discharge my debts according unto couennts? heretofore passed betwene us and his promise in this behalf, made unto me.
And this I make my last will and Testament. In witness whereof I hereto sett my hand and seale.

A noate of such debts as the sayd Elizabeth the testatrix acknowledgeth that she oweth and which she requireth Sir John Ryves her executor to be payd and discharged. Imprimis to her sonne Charles Ryves yf it be demanded and proved to be due: six pounds. Item to her sonne George Ryves Warden of New Colledge in Oxford fortie poundes. Item to the Apothecary for physick, v? per billam. James Vanotton twenty shillings. Item to her three physitions D. Aylworth D. Ashworth Mr Hooper. Item to her daughter Bade and her husband twentie powndes. Item to her sonne William Ryves for her dyett fifteene poundes. Acknowledged in the presence of us Thomas James Clerk Thomas Hopper.
