The xxijth day of October 1613In the name of God, Amen. I Henry Rives of Barton Stacie gent beinge, praised be God, in health and pfect memory, doe ordayne and make my last will and testament, in manner and forme following,
first and above all things I give and bequeath my soule into the hands of the eternall God wch hath created me and my firme hope and beliefe is that I shall bee saved by the death and passion of Jesus Christ his eternall sonne.
First I give unto the poore people of the towne of Poulle in the county of Dorsett twenty shillings
Item I give unto the poore of Alverstoke twenty shillings. I give unto the ppore people of Barton stacie tenne shillings.
Item my will and meaninge is I give unto my brother Sr John Rives knight and unto my sonne George Rives my lease of my farme in Barton Stacie wth lease. I bequeath in this manner because I would have my farme wholly ruled and disposed of by my brother Sr John Ryves whome I doubt not but will prove a tyndr and loveinge uncle unto him.
Item I give and beqeuath unto my daughter Elizabeth Rives two hundred pounds of lawfull money to be paid by the hands of my executrix wthin two whole yeares nexte aftere my death and then the same to be put? forth for my daughters best advantage and comoditie, And if it shall happen my sonne George Rives dye before he come to one and twenty yeares then my will and meaninge is that my daughter Elizabeth Ryves shall have that interest wch my brother Sr John Ryves knight wth my sonne should have had if he had lived. And if it happen my daughter Elizabeth Rives dye and decease before the mannyr or come to the age of one and twenty yeares then my will and meaninge is that the two hundreth pounds to her given wth the commidity then shall descend unto my sonne George Ryves.
Item I give unto Christian? Byrch the xvth I gave her xx at her marriage wt Mr Masterson of London smith? moo?. More I give her v to make up that debte.
All the rest of my goods not given and bequeathed my debts payde and my funerall discharged I give and bequeath unto Christian Rives my welbeloved wife whome I make my whole executrix of this my last will and testament. And further my will & meaninge is as concerninge the statue whch Mr Salmon have forfeited unto me, that my brother Sr John Ryves knight and my sonne George Ryves shall have royall power, as if my self were livinge, to order, and dispose thereof accordinge to same debarringe her? and forbidding my executrix to meddle therewth. ANd I would entreate my good friends Mr Thomas Bacon, and Ro. Cowper. Mr. William Richardson, Mr. Daniell to be my overseers of this my last will and testament, unto whome I give five shillings apeece for their paynes. In witness whereof I have set my hande and seale proven the daye and yeare first above written.
