Transcript

In the name of God Amen I Sr John Ryves of Damery Court neere Blandford in the County of Dorstt knight beinge sicke of body but of sound and perfect memory, thankes, bee given to god doe make my last will & testament in manner & forme followinge.
First I comend my soule into the hands of almightie god my Creator trusting & assuringe myselfe through the meritts of his sonne my saviour Jesus Christ to inherit life everlastinge in the kingdome of heaven, and my body I direct to bee buryed in the tombe in the Church of Blandford where my first wife was buried in decent manner at the discrecon of my executor hereafter named.
Item I give to my welbeloved wife the some of one hundred pounds to bee payd her wthin sixe moneths after my decease.
Item I give unto my neece Elizabeth Ryves daughter of my brother Henry Ryves one hundred pounds beside the money I owe her, wch one hundred pounds shalbe payed her wthin sixe moneths after my decease.
Item I give to my neece Edith Bellott the some of two hundred pounsd to bee paid her wthin sixe moneths after my decease.
Item I doe hereby give and grannt unto my sister Luce Bellot one Anuety or yerely rent of five pounds of lawfull English money to be issuinge and payable out of all my mannors lands tenemts & hereditaments wth in the realme of England, except out of my farme lands & tenemts at hide in the said County of Dorset to have and to hold the same annuity or yearly rent of five pounds unto the said Luce Bellott for and duringe her life to bee payd at the fower most usuall feats or termes in the yere that is to saye, the feaste of the birth of our lord god thannunicacon of the blessed virgin Mary the nativity of St John the Baptist & St Michaell tharchangell by even porcons, the first payment to bee made at that feast of the said feaste wch shall first happen next after my decease and if it happen the said annuity to bee behinde by the space of fourteene daies next after the same feasts or either of them it shalbe lawfull for the said Luce Bellott & her assignes into the said lands premisses charged to enter and distrayne & the distresses to detayne till the same rent & the arrerages bee payed.
Item I discharge my Brother Doctor Thomas Rives of the bond & monies he oweth mee & my will is the bodn shalbe delivered him to bee cancelled and whereas my said brother Thomas & my selfe as his suerty stand bound to my said neece Elizabeth Ryves in the some of fower hundred pounds or some such some for payment two hundred pounds or some such some my will is that my executor shall discharge that debt out of my estate; and that my said brother Thomas shall not bee charged therewth.
Item I give to my nephew Thomas Salmon the some of threescore pounds whch together wth the fortie pounds I have heretofore given & delivered unto him maketh upp the full some of one hundred pounds, wch some I hertofore intended to bestowe on him & soe the threescore pounds hereby bequeath him beinge payd unto him he is then satisfied the said some of one hundred pounds.
Item I give to the poore of landford forty shillings to bee payd wthin sixe moneths after my decease And to every of my servants serveinge mee at the tyme of my decease the some of forty shillings apeece to bee payd at thend of one yere next after my decease and I doe give & bequeath unto my said lovinge wife all my goods chattles household stuffe plate coach ? and cattle whatsoever moveable and unmoveable at my house Damery and in all my lands & grounds of Damery neere Blandford except my bonds bills wrighting & specialties except my white nagg wch I give to my Nephew George Ryves & my mare which Henry Compton? would have bought wht the white foote wch I give to the said Thomas Salmon.
Item I give to the ppore of Litton forty shillings And I doe hereby nominate and appoynt my brother Doctor Thomas Ryves & my nephew John Crooke to bee the executor of this my last will and testament.
