In the name of God Amen The first day of September in the yeare of our lord god one thousand six hundred twenty & seaven and in the third yeare of the Raigne of our Soveregn Lord Charles by the grace of god of England Scotland France & Ireland king defender of the faith &c I Gilberte Reeve of Ffyfeild in the Countie of Essex yeoman being at this time of the writing hereof weake in body but pfect in mind and memorie thanks be given to god doe make ordaine and declare this my psent last will & testament in maner and forme following
First I will and bequeath my soule to allmightie god my maker and to Jesus Christ my Redeemer and my body to be decentlie buried in the pish churchyard of Fiefeild church at the discression of mine executors hereafter named.
Item I give and bequeath unto Gilberte Reeve my sonne and to his heires forever all that my coppihold messuage and ffyftene acres of land thereunto belonging with theappertinances thereunto called or known by the name of T?newt lying and being in fifeild aforesaid...
Item I give and bequeath unto Thomas Reeve my sonne the some of twentie pounds of good and lawfull money of England to be paid by Gilbert my sonne out of the land before bequeathed unto him the said Gilbert within one yeare next after my decease and if my sonne Gilberte Reeve shall make defaulte in payment of the foresaid some of twentie pounds before bequeathed unto my said some Thomas at the time aforesaid then my will and mimnd is and I ? give and bequeath all ? of land commonlie called Mattfield ? the of the land before bequeathed contayneing by estimation six acres more or less lying agaynst the land of the Lord? onlye ?west and the kings highway upon the east unto Thomas Reeve my sonne and to his heyres forever
Item I give and bequeath unto Ellen Reeve my daughter the some of twentie pounds of good and lawfull money of England to be paid unto the said Ellen by Gilbert to my sonne ...out of the lands before bequeathed unto the said Gilberte within one yeare next after my decease and if my said sonne Gilberte shall make defaulte and not pay the foresaid some of twentie pounds before bequeathed unto Ellen my daughter then my will and mind is and I then will and bequeath all that messuage with all the yards orchyards barns stables and out houses thereunt belonging comonlie called or knowen by the name of Turnout unto Ellen my said daughter and to her heires forever
Item I give and bequeath unto the poore people of the pishe of fifeild the some of tne shillings to be paid by mine execout within one yeare next after my decease
All the rest of my goods and chattells not well moveable abnot? moveable whatsoever I give and bequeath unto Ellinor my wife and Thomas my sonne whom I make and ordaine joynt executors of this my last will and testament trusting that they will pay my debts and legasies and bring my body to the earth. And I ordaine my loving friend and neighbour Humphry Fale? the eder overseer of this my said will trusting that he wille aiydeine and appoint? mine executors with his best and ? for their good. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my land and seale the day and yeare first above written
