In the name of God Amen
The tenth day of January Anno Domini One thousand sixe hundred fortie and five I Edmund Reeve of Latton in the Countie of Essex Potter beinge at this present in reasonable good health and of perfect mind and memory thanks be given to Almighty God consideringe wht myselfe the most certaintie of death and the most uncertaintie of the hower thereof doe make and declare this my last will and testament in writinge in manner and forme followinge
First and principally above all earthly things i doe commend my soule unto the hands of Allmighty God my creator in steadfast hope of the resurrection through Jesus Christ my Redeemr to be made partaker of his everlastinge kingdome of heaven And I committ my body to the Earth to be buried in Christian buriall at the discretion of my executor hereafter named consideringe such worldly goods and chattells as it hath pleased God of his mercy to be bestowed upon me I doe give devise will and bequeath them in manner and forme followinge
Imprimis I give and bequeath unto the poore people of the parish of Latton aforesaid twenty shillings of lawfull money of England to be distributed and paid unto and amongst them my mine executor and overseers of this my will hereafter named wthin one moneth next after my deease
Item I give and bequeath unto Edward Reeve my sonne the summe of five shillings of lawfull money of England to be paid unto him wthin two months next my decease
Item I give and bequeath unto Hellen Jane my maid servant one legacie of five pounds of good and lawfull moey of England to be paid unto her wthin three moneths next after my decease
Item I give and bequeath unto the foresaid Hellen Jane my servant the summe of thirty and five shillings of lawfull money of England for and in leiew of a debt of thirtie five shillings wth the foresaid Edward Reeve my sonne oweth unto her to be paid unto her wthin three months next after my decease
Also my will is that whatsoever money is owing unto the said Hellen Jane my servant by William my sonne shalbe paid unto her out of my moveable goods wthout doores? wthin three months next after my decease
Item I give and bequeath unto Mary Reeve my grandchild daughter of William Reeve my sonne one hutch wch was my windo wth all the linnen and other things whatsoever that is in it
Item I give more unto the foresaid Mary Reeve my Grandchild and daughter of the foresaid William Reeve the summe of wentie pounds of lawfull money of England to be paid unto her at her age of one and twentie yeares or day of marriage wch shall first happen or bee. But if it shall fortune the said Mary to departe this life before shee atteine the same then my will is that the same twentie pounds shalbe equally devided and paid unto William Reeve my sonne and William Reeve and John Reeve his sonnes equally between them.
Item I give more unto the said Mary Reeve my grandchild daughter of my sonne William one Brasse pott and also my Bedstead wch standeth in my parlor and one new featherbed and newe bolster a new pillow and my large kindering and one of the best blankets belonginge to the said bed and one paire of sheets and my warminge panne and my joyne table in the parlor and my cubbord in my hall and also my new kettle all to be delivered unto her presently after my decease
Item I give and bequeath unto Mary Reeve and Agnes Reeve my grandchildren daughter of Edward Reeve my son the some of eleaven pounds apeece of lawfull money of England for and in leiw o the benefitt and profitt wch I have taken of a pcell of land lyinge in Latton aforesaid called Hodgekins Crosse? conteyninge by estimation three acres more or lesse wch the said Edward Reeve their father did lett unto me by Indneture of lease bearinge date the second and twentith day of November wch was in Anno Domini One thousand sixe hundred thirty fower for the terme of seaven years from the feast of the birth of the Lord God in the said yeare for the rent of one pepper corne by the yeare and other causes and considerations therein specificed wch said two and twenty pounds my will is shalbe put foorth by my executor and overseer of this my will wthin three months next after my deease for the best advantage to increase a store for them and to be paid to them together wth the increase thereof proportionably actldy or either of them shall accomplish their severall ages of one and twenty yeares or their severall dayes of marriage wch shall first come or be and my will and mind is if either of them the said Mary and Agnes shall happen to departe this life before she shall receive her said legacie that then the portion or legacie of her soe deceased together wth the increase thereof shalbe paid to the survivor of them at such age as aforesaid or day of her marriage
Item I give and bequeath unto Thomas Reeve the summe of twentie shillings of lawfull money of England if that he doth come again and if he doth not happen to come againe my will and mind is that Mary Reeve daughter of William Reeve my sonne shall have the same twentie shillings
Item I give will and bequeath all the rest of my moveable goods and household stuffe wthin my dwellinge house wch is unbequeathed (my bills bonds and ready money only excepted) unto and amongst my fower Grandchildren that is to say Mary and Agnes Reeve the two daughters of Edward Reeve my sonne and William and John Reeve sonne of the foresaid William Reevev my sonne to be equally shared and devided between them by my executor and overseere
Item I give and bequeath unto William Reeve my sonne the summe of tenne pounds wch is in the hands of Henny Shrarey? wch he oweth unto me by Bond and my will is that my executor shall make my said sonne a letter of Atturney for the receivinge thereof and soe he to be discharged of the same. All the residue of my moveable goods whatsoever beinge wthout doores or in my outhousen and all my bills bond and ready money (except that is in the hutch before given unto Mary Reeve) I leave it all to my executor to be praysed and sold for the best advantage that may be wthin three moths after my decease for the payment of my legacies aforesaid and of my debts and the discharge of my buriall and the remainder of the money after these things discharged my will and mind is that my exeutor shall have forties shillings for his paines to bee taken herein and my overseere sixe shillings eight pence a peece over above their ordinary and necessary charged and expenes and all the remainder and residue of the said moey soe arisinge after these things discharged my will and mind is shalbe equally devidied delivered and paid unto William Reeve my sonne and William Reeve and John Reeve my grandchildren sonne of my sonne William share and share like and I doe ordaine nominate make appointe my lovinge cozen Danyell Hutdson of Eppinge in the County of Essex to be my full and sole executor of this my last will and testament hopeing that he will carefully performe the same accordinge to my true meaninge herein expressed And I do intreate and appoint my cozen William Hutdson of much Parndon and and my loveinge neighbor William Strarey of Harlow to be Overseers of this my will desiringe them to use the best means they can to see the same performed accordinge to my true meaninge and to my said executor and overseere of this my will I give to each of them for their paines herein to bee taken the severall summes before merited and my will and meaninge is that whosoever hath any money of mine in their hands upon bond shall be freed for payinge any use for the same for one halfe yeare next after my decease
And I doe hereby renouonce and renose? all former wills by me made In witness whereof I the said Edmund Reeve have hereunto sett my hand & seale acknowledging it to be my very last will and testament
