Transcript

In the Name of God Amen I William Reeve of Maldon in the County of Essex yeoman being in indifferent health and of sound and disposing mind and memory do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner following hereby revokeing and makeing null and void all former wills by me heretofore made
And first and Principally I comend my soul into the hands of Almighty God hopeing through the meritts and intercession of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to obtaine the remission of all my sins and to inheritt everlasting life, and my body I omitt to the Earth to be decently interred therein at the discretion of my Executrix hereinafter named. And as for that worldly estate it hath pleased God to bless me withall I Give and Dispose thereof as followeth
Imprimis I Give and bequeath unto my Grandaughter Sarah the wife of William Belcham of South Church in the sd County of Essex yeom the sume of Forty pounds of lawfull money of Great Britaine to be paid to her within twelve kalendary months next after my decease and the further sums of fifty pounds of like money to be paid unto her within six kalendary months next after the decease of my loveing wife Mary Reeve
Item I give and bequeath to my said Grandaughter Sarah Belcham after my wifes decease my silver tankard
Item My mind and will is that in case my said loveing wife Mary Reeve who as executrix of this my last Will and Testament will after my decease be intitled to the lease of my Farm called Fryons and Iarkletts? or otherwise in Purley Purleigh aforesd for the remainder of the term of years therein then to come and unexpired shall at any time dureing the term of her naturall life sell assign or otherwise dispose of the said lease for all or any part of the term therein then to come and unexpired to any person or persons whomsoever except it be to my said Grandaughter if she be then loveing or in case the Extors or Admrs of my said loveing wife shall not from and after her decease permitt and suffer my sd Grandaughter if she be then liveing as aforesd peaceably and quietly to have hold and enjoy the sd Farm and to receive and take the rents issues and profitts thereof dureing the residue of the sd term then to come & unexpired then and in either of the cases aforesd I give devise and bequeath unto my sd Grandaughter Sarah the wife of the said William Belcham the further sums of Fifty pounds of like money to be paid to her within one onth next after such assignment or disposall of the sd lease, or next after my sd Grandaughter shall be denyed the possession or be disturbed in the quiet enjoyment of the sd Farm by the Extors or Admtors of my sd loveing wife or any other claiming or to claime from or under her.
Item I give and bequeath unto my kinswoman Martha the wife of Jeremiah Gentry of Maldon aforesd the sums of ten pounds of like lawfull money to be paid to her within twelve kalendary months next after my decease.
Item I give devise and bequeath unto Mr. Joseph Billio of Maldon aforesd two guineas to be paid to him within one month next after my decease
All the rest residue and remainder of my Goods chattles and personall estate of what nature or kind soever I give devise and bequeath unto my sd loveing wife Mary Reeve upon condition that she accepts the sume in full bare and satisfaction of her dower or thirds or right of dower or thirds which she may or can after my decease have claim & demand out of all or any the messuages lands or tenements I shall dye seised of, otherwise I devise all therest residue and remainder of my personal estate to my said Grandaughter Sarah Belcham
And Lastly I do nominate & appoint my said loveing wife Mary Reeve sole executrix of this my last Will and Testament
In witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seall this thirteenth day of September in the third year of the Reign of our Sovreign Lord George the second by the Grace of God of Great Britaine France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith &c Annoq Dm 1729
