1727 Will - Mary Reeve

Dated: 4 Feb 1726/7, Purleigh, Essex
Probated: Commissary of Bishop of London, 10 Apr 1732

Transcript

In the name of God Amen I Mary Reeve of Purleigh in ye County of Essex, being of sound disposing mind & memory do make & ordain this my last will & testament in manner & form following and first & principally I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God hoping through ye merits & intercession of my Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ to obtain the Remission of my sins & inherit eternal life. And my body I commit to the Earth in hope of a Glorious resurection & to be decently interred at the discretion of my executor herein after mentioned. And as for the worldly estate it hath pleased God to bless me withal & give & dispose as followeth.
Imprimis I give devise & bequeath unto my loving friend Mary Bilio the sum of twenty shillinsg of good & lawfull money of England to be paid her within six months after my decease
Item I give devise & bequeath all the rest of my goods & chattels & personal estate whatsoever as bills & beads? &c my debts & funeral charges being first paid & discharged unto my loving daughter Ann.
And do make my loving son in law John Pond sole executor to this my last will & Testament. In witness whereof I have set my hand & seal this 4th day of February Anno Domini 1726.

Before I signed this my last will I do will & order that my loving husband William Reeve may enjoy the 40 pound I lent him during his natural life, both principal & interest

Commentary

The probate of this will shows Mary was of Maldon when she died although at the time the will was written she was of Purleigh. This appears to be the widow of William Reeve of Purleigh and Maldon.
