Know all men by these presents that I John Reeves of Salem in the County of Essex Wheelwright in consideration of the sum of sixty six pounds thirteen shillings and four pence by me received of Ebenezer Putnam of said Salem Esquire before the sealing hereof have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain sell and convey unto the said Ebenezer and to his heirs a piece of land in said Salem with part of a dwelling house and a shop thereon bounded northerly on the main street fifty feet and six inches, westerly on Blaneys land nine poles and fourteen link of Gunters chain southerly on Richard Palmers land sixty one feet four inches and a half inch, and easterly on the land and the other part of said House, which were called No. 2 in the Division of the Real Estate of Grand-father Cockerel Reeves decd and are now occupied by the widow of my uncle Benja Reeves with the appurtenances the premises containing both those pieces of land which I bought of my uncles Jacob Reeves and Samuel Reeves the deeds whereof are this day recorded in the Registry of Deeds for this county To have and to hold the said granted premises unto the said Ebenezer Putnam and to his heirs and assigns to his and their only proper use and behoof forever and I the said John Reeves for my self my heirs executors and administrators do hereby covenant with the said Ebenezer Putnam and his heirs and assigns in manner following that is to say that at the sealing hereof I am the sole owner of said granted premises have good right to sell the same as aforesaid that the said premises are free from all incumbrances and that I and my heirs will warrant and defend the said granted premises unto the said Ebenezer Putnam and to his heirs and assigns forever against the lawful claims and demands of all persons whatsoever provided always and these presents are upon the condition that if I or my heirs executors or administrators or any of them shall pay unto the said Ebenezer Putnam or to his executors administrators or assigns the sum of sixty six pounds thirteen shillings & four pence with lawful interest therefor on or before the fourteenth day of July Anno Domini One thousand seven hundred and seventy four according to the condition of my bond to said Putnam dated the fourteenth instant of the Penalty of one hundred and forty pounds as a collateral security for the performance of which condition this deed is given then as well this deed as the same bond to the void otherwise in force in witness whereof I the said John together with Sarah my wife who for the consideration aforesaid doth convey to said Putnam her dower and interest in said granted premises do hereunto set our hands and seals the twentieth day of July Anno Domini One thousand seven hundred and seventy threeJohn Reeves & a seal
