Transcript

In the Name of God Amen I Love Reeve of Margaret Roothing in the County of Essex Widow being of sound and disposing mind and memory (thanks be to God for the same) do make and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say) After my debts funeral charges and the probate of this my will paid I give and bequeath one seventh part of my clear personal estate unto my Daughter Mary the wife of James Harwood and I give one other seventh part thereof to all the children of my daughter Love Saward deceased to be equally divided amongst them and to be paid to them respectively at their several ages of twenty one years and I give and bequeath one other seventh part of my clear personal estate to my daughter Ann the wife of John Madke, And I give one other seventh part thereof to my son John Reeve and I give one other seventh part thereof to my daughter Sarah the wife of William Eve and I give one other seventh part thereof to my son John Reeve and I give and bequeath to remaining seventh part of my clear personal estate unto my said sons Joseph and John Reeve (whom I have hereinafter named my executors) upon trust that they or the survivor of them or the executors or administrators of such survivor shall and do lend and place out the same on any parliamentary securities or on anny mortgages or other securities either real or personal as they shall think fit and shall and do pay the interest and proceed thereof from time to time as the same shall come to their hands during the life of my daughter Martha the wife of Isaac White and also the principal or any part thereof as the discretion of my said executors to such person or persons and for such uses and purposes and in such manner as my said daughter Martha White shall by any writing or writings under her hand notwithstanding her coverture direct or appoint To the intent that the same may not be at the disposal of or subject to the controul debts or engagements of her said husband but only as her own sole and separate disposal and for want of such appointment unto her own proper hands for her own personal use and benefit and for which her receipt alone shall be sufficient discharge And upon trust after the decease of my said daughter Martha White to pay the said last mentioned seventh part of my clear personal estate or so much thereof as shall then remain in their hands equally amongst all the children of the said Martha White that shall be living at her decease (if more than one) and if but one then wholly to that one And I do hereby make and appoint my said sons Joseph and John Reeve executors of this my last Will and Testament In witness whereof I have to this my last will and Testament contained in two sheets of paper set my hand to the first sheet thereof and to this last sheet my hand and seal this third day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty three

Proved on the 29th day of October in the year of our Lord 1704 before the Revd Thomas Naylor Clk surrogate &c by the oaths of Joseph Reeve and John Reeve sons of the deceased & the extors to whom Admon &c was granted they being first sworn duly to Administer

Commentary

Love was the widow of Joseph Reeve.
