Rutherford Records Jany. AD 1796
Know all men by these presents that I, James Reavis of the County of Rutherford & State of North Carolina & in consideration of the sum of Thirty pounds Good and Lawfull Money of the State aforesaid to me in hand paid by James Doyle of the same County and State afoursaid before the sealing and delivering of these presents the Receit (sic) whereof is hereby acknowledged have bargained and by these presents do Bargain sell and deliver unto the said James Doyle a certain negroe girl named Milla about three years old and I do by these presents warrant & for ever defende the Right and title to the said Negro to him the said James Doyle his heirs or assigns free & clear from me my heirs executors administrators or assigns and from the Right chalange (sic) claim or demands of any other person or persons whatsoever laying any Just right claim or title t here to in Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 3th (sic) day of December 1795
