In the Name of god amen I James Reavis Ju. of the County of Rutherford & State of North Carolina being in a low state of health but of Sound and perfect mind and memory blessed be god for the same but Considering the Mortality of my body and that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and Testament first & recommend my soul into the hands of almighty god who give it and my body after my Decease to be decently buried and at Touching my worldly Estate I dispose of that in the following Manner First that all my Just Debts be paid by sail (sic) of my wagon such horses as can be left spared & my still & bushels and as touching the land I purchased of James & Bird Laughter, My will and desire is that it should be given up to them again if they will Consent to it and the bargain be as though it never had been. And after my Debts is paid my will is that my property of every kind and description remain in the hands of my wife Martha until my oldest son Wilson arrives to the age of twenty one years at which time the Estate to be Valued and Wilson to have his equal part with my wife Martha, Polly, Morgan, Washington Betsy & Lucinda and the Children all as they Come of age to receive there part and the part allotted to my wife Martha at her Decease to be equally divided between all my children as before named and I do hereby Constitute and appoint my trusty friend John Headen & John Bradly and my beloved wife Martha sole executors of this my last will and Testament in trust for the intent and purposes in this my will Contained –Signed sealed Published and declared to be my last will and Testament. In Testimony whereof I the said James Reavis have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this Eleventh day of March in the year of our lord one Thousand eight hundred and one.
