A Rutherford County marriage record of 25 Nov 1812 records a marriage between James Reavis and “Mary” Bagwell so it is unclear whether this was actually Nancy or if there was a spouse prior to Nancy who died within a short time after the 1812 marriage. Most pedigrees for this family name James Morgan Reavis' wife as Nancy Bagwell and there are several recorded instances of transactions with members of the Bagwell family, such as:
  • Lunsford Bagwell sold land to Morgan Reavis, Deed Book D of L, Rutherford County, 1826.
  • Morgan Reavis was bondsman for Orville Wilson and Sarah M. Bagwell, Rutherford County, February 26, 1829.

James Morgan Reavis had several more children than those listed above whose identities are currently unknown. Based upon the 1830 and 1840 census records, there were at least three more male children and three more females.
  • In the 1830 census of Rutherford County NC his household consisted of 2 males ‹5 yrs, 1 male 5-9 yrs, 1 male 30-39, 2 females 5-9 yrs, 1 female 10-14 and 1 female 30-39.
  • The 1840 census of Bledsoe County TN, James' household is recorded with 2 males 5-9, 1 male 10-14, 1 male 15-19, 1 male 40-49, 1 female 5-9, 1 female 10-14 and 1 female 40-49.
  • By the 1850 census of Bledsoe County TN, James and Nancy Reavis' household only included Jonathan, age 18; William, age 17; Harriet, age 15.
