Transcript

In the Name of God I William Reeve of Blackmore in the County of Essex Gentleman being of sound mind and memory (thanks be to God for the same) do make and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner following that is to say
First I yield up my soul to Almighty God hoping for mercy through the merits of his dearly beloved Son Jesus Christ our Redeemer and my body I commit to the Earth to be decently buried in the church yard of the parish of Blackmore aforesaid as near to my said wife as may be and my wish and desire is that my grave be ? and that a stone to my memory be placed at the head of my grave if the rector of the parish church of Blackmore aforesaid will permit it and as to all the worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me I give and dispose thereof in manner following that is to say
I give and devise unto my eldest son William Reeve all that my messuage or tenement and farm called or known by the name of the Red Rose in ? or otherwise with all the Barns stables Buildings and all the lands grounds and hereditaments thereunto belonging in my own occupation and also all that my cottage or tenement with the appurtenances in tene ? of ? stornes? or his assigns all which premises are copyhold of the manor of Fringrifth? so all and are surrendered to the use of my will to hold all the same premises to my said son William Reeve his heirs and assigns for ever charges nevertheless and I hereby charge all the said farm lands and premises from and immediately after my decease with the payment o one annuity or yearly sum of ten pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to my cousin? Aaron? Brown Widow to be paid to her or her assigns by two ? and equal half yearly payments for the term of her natural life and I also charge all the said premises with the payment of the sum of three hundred pounds of like lawful money to be paid at the end of seven years next after my decease unto my son Francis Reeve my daughter Mary Ann the wife of George Fromris? and my daughter Sophia the wife of John Gowing in equal shares and proportions and in case the said annuity or the said sum of three hundred pounds or any part thereof shall be behind and unpaid for the spare of twenty daies after the same shall ? then I will that the party or parties not paid shall and may lawfully enter upon the said premises or any part thereof and receive and take the rents and profits thereof or any part thereof until all arrears shall be paid together with the costs and charges to be sustained by reason of such ? of payment and I hereby direct authorize and impower my friends John Barrett and Ashely Barrett both of Blackmore aforesaid whom I have hereinafter named executors of this my will and the survivor of them and the executors and admon of such survivor as soon as conveniently may be after my decease to sell and dispose of all those my two copyland cottages or tenements with the yards gardens and appurtenances thereunto belonging situate and being in Fryerning in the said county of Essex which I have only surrendered to the use of my will for the cost price or prices that can or may be reasonably got for the same and I will and direct that the monies to be raised by sale of the said copyhold premises and the rents and profits thereof until such sale after all just and reasonable charges thereon det?ted, shall be det?ted and taken as part of the residue of my personal estate and my ? and will is that the receipt or receipts of the said John Barrett and Ahsley Barrett or of the survivor of them or of the executors or administrators of such survivors shall be a sufficient discharge to the purchasor of the said premises and his heirs and assigns and that he and they shall not be answerable to any ? or misapol?? of the purchase ? and I give and bequeath to my said sons William and James Reeve and to my said daughters Mary Ann Francis and Sophia Gowing to be equally divided amongst them all such sum and sums of money as at the time of my decease shall or may be to me and owing to me by Bond of Mary Campbell widow and John Campell Esquire both ? with all the interest out and to grow one thereon and I will that as soon as any part of the monies ? upon the said Bond to the amount of one hundred pounds apiece shall be received by my said three children James Reeve Mary Ann Francis and Sophia Gowing that they shall then ? and every of them refund and repay to my said son William Reeve the sum of one hundred pounds apiece which I before directed to be paid to them out of my said farm and lands called the Red Rose in June and in case my said three younger children shall not ? receive the said sum of three hundred pounds of and from my said son William before the payment to them of a part of the said debt but upon Bond from the said Mary Campbell and John Campbell to the amount of one hundred pounds apiece then and in such case I revoke and make void the aforesaid Bequest of three hundred pounds to my said three youngest children charged on my said farm and lands as aforesaid and I give and bequeath to my said Cousin Mary Brown the sum of ten pounds for mourning? and I give and bequeath to the poor of the parish of Blackmore aforesaid the sum of ten pounds to be distributed amongst them at the direction of my executors within one month after my decease. And I give the sum of ten pounds to be paid and distributed by my executor for the use and benefit of the Sunday school in Blackmore aforesaid at ? to each of my three sisters Hannah Roach Ann Mullocks and Martha Parsons and also to each of my friends the said John Barrett and Ashely Barrett a gold ring of the value of one guinea and as to all my household tools and furniture (the stoves? and fixtures ?rupted which I give to my said son William with the ?) cattle hay & corn as well such as shall be growing at my decease as other ? farming stock materials and implements of husbandry and all the rest and residue of my monies securities for money credits and all other my personal estate and effects whatsoever after my debts ? funeral charges and the probate of this my will paid I give and bequeath the same and every part thereof unto my said son James Reeve my said daughter Mary Ann Francis and my said daughter Sophia Gowing equally to be divided amongst them and I make constitute and appoint the said John Barrett and Ashley Barrett testators of this my will ad I give to each of them the said John Barrett and Ashley Barrett the sum of ten pounds apiece for their care and trouble in and about the execution of this my will In witness whereof I have to this my last will and Testament ? in three sheets of paper set my hand to each of the two first sheets thereof and to this last sheet my hand and seal this thirteenth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and three

This will was proved at London the thirteenth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and four before the worshipful Samuel Paorr? ? Doctor of Laws and Surrogte of the Right Honorable Sir William Wynne Knight Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oaths of John Barrett and Ashley Barrett the executors named in the said will to whom administration was granted of all and singular the goods chattles and credits of the deceased having been first sworn duly to administer.
