Transcript

This Indenture made the tenth day of November in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and twelve Between John Reeve & Nancy his wife and Stephen Reeve all of the township of Roxbury in the county of Morris and State of New Jersey of the one part and Mary Ayers of the township of Roxbury in the county of Morris and State of New Jersey of the other part Witnesseth that the said John Reeve & Nancy his wife and Stephen Reeve for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred & sixty dollars & ten cents good and lawful money of the United States to them in hand well and truly paid by the said Mary Ayers at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged and the said John Reeve & Nancy his wife & Stephen Reeve therewith fully satisfied, contented and paid have granted bargained and sold, aliened, enfeoffed, conveyed and confirmed and by these presents doth grant bargain sell alien enfeoff convey and confirm to the said Mary Ayers and to her heirs and assigns forever all their right to the real estate of John Reeve Decd as willd to them being a tract or parcel of land and premises herein after particularly described situate lying and being in the township of Roxbury in the county of Morris and State of New Jersey butted and bounded as follows Beginning on the mountain to the North East of Flanders and on a course of North one? degree & thirty minutes East from Isaac Starkes House thence (1) west thirty four chains thence (2) south seventeen chains and sixty five links thence (3) sixty two degrees and twenty minutes east thirty eight chains to the Beginning containing thirty acres strict measure the above described lands formerly belonging to John Reeve Decd our Grandfather & by his last Will & Testament made over the same as his voluntary Gift and Deed to us the said John Reeves & Nancy his wife and Stephen Reeves & by us now sold unto the said Mary Ayers together with all and singular the profits, privileges and advantages with the appurtenances to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining Also all the estate right title intrest property claim and demand whatsoever of the said John Reeves & Nancy his wife & Stephen Reeves of in and to the same and of in and to every part and parcel thereof To have and to hold all and singular the above described tract or lot of land and premises with the appurtenances unto the said Mary Ayers and to her heirs and assigns to the only proper use benefit and behoof of the said Mary Ayers and to her heirs and assigns forever And the said John Reeves & Stephen Reeves doth for themselves their heirs executors and administrators covenant and grant to and with the said Mary Ayers her heirs and assigns that they the said John Reeves & Nancy his wife & Stephen Reeves are the true lawful and right owners of all and singular the above described land and premises and of every part and parcel thereof and are now lawfully seized and possessed of the same as a good perfect and absolute estate of inheritance in fee simple and that the same land and premises or any part thereof at the time of sealing and delivery of these presents are not incumbered by any mortgage judgment dower recognizance or limitation or by any incumbrance whatsoever by which the title of the said Mary Ayers her heirs or assgns hereby made or intended to be made for the above described land and premises can or may be changed charged altered or defeated in any way whatever And also that the said John Reeves and Nancy his wife and Stephen Reeves now have good right full power and lawful authority to grant bargain sell and convey the said land and premises in manner aforesaid And also that they will warrant secure and forever Defend the said land and premises unto the said Mary Ayers and to her heirs and assigns forever against the lawful claims and demands of all and every person and persons freely and clearly freed and discharged of and from all manner of incumbrances whatsoever In witness whereof the said John Reeves and Nancy his wife and Stephen Reeves have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written

This may certify that I Jemima Reeves widow of the late Jon Reeve Decd for and in consideration of the sum of twenty five cents good and lawful money of the United States to me in hand paid before the executing & delivery of these presents the sect hereby acknowledged have granted bargained sold remisd released & confirmed unto Mary Ayers of Roxbury township Morris County & State of New Jersey my right title interest property doury claim or demand whatsoever to the Real Estate of my Decd Husband Jno Reeves of the township County and State aforesaid which in his lifetime he Willd to me during my life and after my death to be the property of Stephen & Jno Reeve my grandsons which property is described in the written Deed given by Jno & Stephen Reeves to Mary Ayers and which I hereby acknowledge to be the same described property that by these presents I now release all right or title whatsoever to Mary Ayers. The last will and Testament of my Decd Husband Jno Reeves by which I hold the right of his real estate for which this release is made is dated the fifteenth April Eighteen hundred eleven.

Morris County Be it remembered that on the 12th day of Novr 1812 personally appeared before me William Monso Esqr one of the judges of the Inferior Court of Common Pleas of the County of Morris & State of New Jersey Rheri Nicholls of full age who being duly sworn on his oath according to law deposeth and saith that he saw the said Stephen Reeves one of the within named grantors sign seal and deliver the within instrument as his act and deed for the use and purposes therein expressed and the said Jno Ayers subscribed his name as the same time as one attesting witness.

John Reeves and Nancy his wife came before me William Menso one of the judges of the Court of Common Pleas in and for the County of Morris and severally acknowledged that they executed and delivered the within Deed for the uses and purposes therein expressed and the said Nancy being examined by me apart from her husband said she executed the said deed freely and not from any threats or constraint of her husband
