Transcript

This Indenture made the twenty third day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fourteen 1814 Between Esther Reeves of the town and County of Gloucester and State of New Jersey widow of the one part and Marmaduke Reeves, Elizabeth Winters, Samuel Reeves and Biddle Reeves the children of the said Esther Reeves. Witnesseth that the said Esther Reeves for and in consideration of the love and affection which she has for her said children and for and in consideration of the sum of five dollars to her in hand paid by the said Marmaduke Elizabeth Samuel and Biddle hath devised sold aliened enfeoffed released and confirmed and by these presents doth devise sell release and confirm unto the said Marmaduke Elizabeth Samuel and Biddle, all and singular that piece or tract of land situate in the Township of Deptford, adjoining lands of Benajah Andrews, and the children of Joseph Lowe deceased, also one piece or parcel of Meadow Grounds adjoining lands of Mary Westcott and the children of the said Joseph Low bounded also by Woodbury Creek being that part of the lands which fell to the share of the said Esther Reeves in right of her mother including the two lots above described containing about twenty eight acres be the same more or less. Together with all and singular the appurtenances belonging or ay wise appertaining unto the said described land and meadow ground. To have and to hold the same unto the said Marmaduke Elizabeth Samuel and Biddle or to the survivor or survivors of them their heirs and assigns to the only proper use and behoof of them their heirs and assigns forever, or the survivor or survivors of them as aforesaid their heirs ad assigns forever the said Esther nevertheless reserves to herself the profits arising therefrom during her natural life. In witness whereof she the said Esther Reeves unto these presents hath hereunto set her hand and seal the day and year before written.

Sealed and delivered in the presence of Rich Snowdon Susanah (her x mark) Heretage

Be it remembered this 10th day of March 1815 personally appeared before me the subscribers one of the judges of the inferior court of Common Pleas Esther Reeves who acknowledged she signed sealed delivered the within Indenture for the uses and purposes therin mentioned. Taken and acknowledged the day and year above written.
