Narrative
In 1814, his mother Hester deeded property to her children including Marmaduke. In a deed a couple years later, Biddle sold the portion of this land that he "may have by the decease of his brother Marmaduke Reeves who is supposed to be dead at this time." However in an 1828 deed from his brother Samuel to Christian Husfelt, it mentions that Marmaduke died intestate without issue and implies he died after his brother Biddle. This raises the possibility that the family was out of contact with Marmaduke for some time and he was presumed dead, but later was discovered to be alive. Perhaps this is somehow connected to the War of 1812.Research Notes
There was Marmaduke Reeves who served as a private in Capt. Wilkin's Rifle Company in Mississippi during the War of 1812. He served from end of 1814 to end of March 1815. He was paid $24.25 for service.Sources
