This Indenture made this Eleventh day of October in the year of our Lord one Thousand eight hundred and Sixteen between Adam Reaves of the Sate of North Carolina and County of Wayne on the one part and Jesse Slocumb of the Same place on the other part Witnesseth that for and inconsideration of the Sum of Nine hundred dollars to the Said Adam Reave in hand paid at and before the Sealing and Signing of these presents the receipt and payment whereof he doth hereby acknowledge Have granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain sell and confirm unto him the Said Jesse Slocumb a certain tract or parcel of land Situate lying and being on Brooks Swamp in Wayne County Beginning at a post oak at or near the head of maple branch thence down the run of Said branch to said Swamp then up the run of Said Swamp to the mouth of the middle Field branch thence up the run of Said branch to the head and to the back line of William Reaves old Patent then East along the Said line to the old road thence along the Center of Said Road to the foot of the old path that Said Adam Reaves and John Reaves moved along when the Swaped land thence along said path to the Beginning at the head of maple branch Containing two hundred and ninety acres more or less also one other tract or parcel of land lying in Duplin County and joining the aforesaid tract Beginning at a pine the beginning corner of a patent granted to the Said Adam Reaves and ruins with the line of Said Patent North Sixty East Sixty two poles to a Stake George Kornegay Corner thence with his line North Sixty Six poles to a gum and pine Sapling thence with his line East fifty two poles to a pine Jesse Reaves Corner thence through the rice ponds North fifty West one hundred & sixty poles to a Small pine thence West forty poles to a pine thence South Twenty Six West forth two poles to a pine Said to be on Wayne County line thence South Eighty West one hundred poles to a Stake by a white oak Sapling thence North Seventy West twenty two poles to a black jack thence South Sixty West forty poles to a pine thence West thirty Six poles to a white oak Sapling on the East edge of the road leading from Greenes on Neuse to Hursts Bridge on goshin thence South Eighteen East fifty eight poles to a Stake thence North forty East ninety two poles to a Stake thence to the Beginning. Containing one hundred and fifty two acres be the Same more or less To Have and to hold the aforesaid tracts or parcels of land with all and Singular the privileges and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining and I the Said Adam Reaves for myself my Heirs Executors and adm'rs do hereby Covenant promise and agree to Warrant and by these presents forever defend the aforesaid land and every part and parcel thereof to him the Said Jesse Slocumb his Heirs Executors administrators and assigns forever against the right title claim or interest of all manner of person or person whatsoever reserving nevertheless to him the Said Adam Reaves and his present Wife Ann their life Estates in the Said Lands and reserving to them all the privileges which they now enjoy or could enjoy during their lies was this deed not give without any interruption whatsoever. In witness whereof I the Said Adam Reaves here herewith set my hand & affixed my Seal the day and date first above written.

Then was the within deed of Sale from Adam Reaves to Jesse Slocumb proved in Open Court by the Oath of James Everitt a Subscribing Witness thereto. Ordered that the deed be Registered.
