Transcript

Be it remembered this fourth day of the Seventh Month in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & nineteen (1819) That I Clement Reeves late of the city of Philadelphia, being sickly & weak in Body, but of sound disposing mind and memory taking into consideration the uncertainty of time and that is appointed all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last will & Testament.
Imprimis I order my executors herein after named to pay all my just debts and funeral expenses out of the money that shall come into their hands from the sales or proceeds of my personal estate.
Item I give and devise unto my beloved wife Sarah that house and lot situate in the town of Gloucester in the State of New Jersey formerly ? as a Tavern, during her natural life or during her widowhood - with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging with the rents issues and profits thereof during the term aforesaid and at the term of her decease or widowhood I order my executors to sell and dispose of the same and empower them by these presents to make the purchaser a deed in fee simple and the money arising from the sale thereof shall be equally divided amongst my children hereinafter named share & share alike or to the survivors of them in such manner as is hereafter expressed.
Item I order my executors to sell and dispose of all my goods & chattels including my house hold goods, boats and every appurtenance belonging or any wise appertaining to the ferry which I now occupy and hold on the upper side of Market Street on the River Delaware (excepting thereout such household goods as my said wife shall choose for the furnishing a house for herself and children to reside in) and all other my personal estate there or elsewhere to be found when sold and all debts due to become due on bonds, notes or on Book accounts are collected i order my said executors to dispose of the Ballance that shall remain so collected in the following manner viz that the same shall be equally divided between my said beloved wife Sarah Reeves and my children namely Louisa, Susan, Israel, Mary, Joseph, Ann, and Sarah, share and share alike to be paid to my said children as they severally arrive at the following ages that is to say the girls at eighteen yeas and the boys at twenty one years, the said several share to be put out to interest untill they severally arrive to the said described ages at which time each one is to receive his share when of age as aforesaid, And it is my Will that the interest arising from the shares of the minors so put out shall be applied for the maintenance of each and every of them untill they are of age as aforesaid.
Item I hereby constitute nominate and appoint my said beloved wife Sarah Reeves executrix and my brother Joseph Reeves executor to this my Last Will & Testament hereby revoking all former wills & Testaments heretofore by me made declaring this only to be my last Will & Testament. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal the day and year before written.

Biddle Reeves one of the subscribing witnesses to the within Will being duly affirmed according to law upon his solemn affirmation saith that he saw Clement Reeves the Testator therein named sign & seal the same that he heard him publish pronounce and declare the within writing to be his Last Will and Testament and at the doing thereof the said Testator was of sound disposing mind & memory as far as this affirmant knows & as he verily believes and that Henry Wood and Richard Snowdon the other subscribing witnesses were present at the same time and subscribed their names thereto as witnesses together with this affirmant in the presence of the said Testator.

Sarah Reeves Executrix in the within will named being duly affirmed according to law saith that the within writing contained the true last will & Testament of Clement Reeves the testator therein named and that she will and truly perform the same by paying first the debts of the said testator and then the legacies specified so far as the goods chattels & credits of the decd can thereunto extend and that she will make and exhibit into the surrogates office in woodbury a true & perfect inventory of all and singular the goods chattels and credits af said decd and render a just and true account when thereunto lawfully required
