Transcription

Know all men by these presents that I Bennett Reeves of Wilkes County & State of Georgia for and in consideration of the love and affection which I have toward my grand children that is to say Harris Freeman, Sarah Anne Freeman, William Freeman, Eliza Freeman & John D. Freeman, sons and daughters of Joseph S. Freeman, and Mary his wife (who is my daughter) I do freely give and grant to the above named Grand Children equally the Surviving one or ones of them, the following negro girl that is Letty (and her future increase) about seven or eight years old of black complexion, and also any future child or children that my said daughter Mary Freeman may hereafter have to them the surviving one or ones of them in equal degrees, I have, and Share alike of the said negro girl and any increase that may arise from her subject to this provision that the Said Bennett Reeves retains for himself and his wife Anna, the use or profit of the said Girl for and during his and her natural life, for the support & maintainance (sic) of the said Bennett & Anna or other of them for their or either of their lives & no longer, which said negro girl Letty and increase I hereby warrant and defend to the above named grand children as is above expressed again my & my heirs & all persons whatsoever to them their heirs and assigns forever. In Witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand & Seal the first day of January 1821.
