Transcript

This Indenture made this first day of December In the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty three by and between Nathan Wheeler of the County of Bedford and State of Tennessee of the one Part and Absolom Reaves of the County & State aforesaid the other part Witnesseth that the said Nathan Wheeler For and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and Twenty five Dollars to him in hand paid by the sd Absolom Reeves the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath given granted bargained, sold conveyed & conferred and by these presents doth give, grant, convey & confer unto the said Absolom Reeves his heirs & assigns forever a certain piece or tract of land situate lying & being in the county of Bedford on the north fork of Duck River Beginning at an Ash elm & Sycamore on the South Bank of the north fork running thence east forty poles to two red beeds and elm in the west boundary (?) Of a 350 acre tract granted to William Lytle thence South with said one eighty two poles six links to an ash thence south 847 degrees West eighty one & a fourth poles to an Ironwood Black Oak and cedar thence North Eighty one 1/4 poles to an Ash Ironwood & Two cedars on the bank of the North fork thence up the meanders of the same to the Beginning containing Forty acres it being the same more or less To Have and to Hold the aforesaid land and bargained premises with all and singular the rights profits emoluments and hereditaments of in & to the same belonging or any wise appertaining to the only proper use and behoof of him the said Absolom Reeves his heirs & assigns forever and the said Nathan Wheeler for himself his heirs Executors and administrators doth warrant and agree to and with the sd Absolom Reeves his heirs and assigns that he will warrant forever defend the before described land against the right title interest or claim of all and every person or persons whatsoever In witness whereof the said Nathan Wheeler hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day & date above written

           I James McKesuck clk or the Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions of the County aforesaid do hereby certify that the execution of the within deed of conveyance from Nathan Wheeler to Absolom Reeves was acknowledged in open court by the said Nathan Wheeler and ordered to be registered.
