The Heirs of Joseph Doughton Deceased Deed to Jesse Doughton 160 acres
This Indenture made this (blank) day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and thirty two By and between David Cox, Denny Robinson both of the County of Grayson & State of Virginia and Polly Doughton, George Doughton, Grace Doughton, Charles Doughton, Rosamund Doughton, George Reves, John McGimsey, all of the County of Ashe and State of North Carolina of the one part, and Jesse Doughton of Ashe County and State of the other part, witnesseth, that the said Polly Doughton, David Cox, George Reves, George Doughton, Gracy Doughton, Charles Doughton, Denny Robinson, Rosamond Doughton, John McGimsey the said heirs of Joseph Doughton Deceased for an in consideration of the sum of (blank) to them in hand paid by the said Jesse Doughton the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged by the said heirs of Joseph Doughton Deceased, and themselves fully paid & Satisfied, and by these presents doth grant, bargain, Sell and convey, confirm & deliver to him the said Jesse Doughton his heirs & assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land containing one hundred & sixty acres, be the same more or less, lying and being in the County of Ashe & State of N. Carolina on Burtons Creek. Beginning at a white oak on a Ridge near the corner of the big field, running East Sixteen poles, to a Poplar, North Sixty five degrees East fifty four poles to a Gum, South eighty five degrees East ninety two poles to a white oak, South twenty west one hundred and six poles to a Dogwood, South thirty degrees East Seventy poles to three Chestnuts, West one hundred and ten poles to a white oak, North ninety six poles to a Beach, West Seventy four poles to a white oak, South sixty two poles to a stake in Duncan’s line, West twenty Six poles to a white oak on a Ridge, North thirty Six degrees East fifty four poles to a Small White oak, North Sixty poles to the first Station, Together with every right, title, priviledge (sic) & Emolument to the said land belonging, or in any wise appertaining, and they the said Polly Doughton, Charles Doughton, David Cox, George Reves, George Doughton, Gracy Doughton & Rosamond Doughton, John McGimsey, Denny Robinson do bind themselves their heirs Administrators, and every of them well and truly to warrant and forever defend the aforesaid premises with all the appurtenances to them him the said Jesse Doughton, In witness whereof they the said Polly Doughton, Charles Doughton, David Cox, George Reves, George Doughton, Grace Doughton, Rosamond Doughton & John McGimsey and Denny Robinson sets their hands and seals signed sealed and delivered in the presents of

John McGimsey and his wife Charity McGimsey, David Cox &
his wife Jane Cox and Acknowledged the within deed

On this 18th September 1833 Jane Cox the wife of David Cox & Charity McGimsey the wife of John McGimsey being examined by me separately and separated and apart from their husbands acknowledged that they executed the within deed freely of their own accord without persuasion the intimidation or influence of their Husbands
Let this deed be registered as to their parties.

            Ashe County             }            Elizabeth Reves, and acknowledge the execution of the within deed whereupon Elizabeth Reves being examined by me separate and apart from her husband Vouching her free consent in making sd. deed acknowledged She executed it of her own free will & accord and without the influence of her husband, let the deed be registered as to these parties, September the 20th 1833.
