Transcript

This Indenture made this fifteenth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty five by and between Nathan Wheeler of the County of Bedford and State of Tennessee of the one part, and Absalom Reeves of the County and State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said Nathan Wheeler for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred dollars to him in hand paid by the said Absalom Reeves the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath given granted bargained and confirm unto the said Absalom Reeves his heirs & assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the said County of Bedford on the East side of the north fork of Duck River, Beginning at a red oak the north East corner of a tract of land laid off for the use of schools in 3rd Range & 6th section, running South and with said School land line, sixty one poles to a stake in a lane, thence East eight poles and six links to a hickory, thence south to the median twenty nine poles to two dogwoods in Joseph Williams's line, thence East with said line sixty three poles to an elm Thomas Wheelers South West corner, thence north with the section line, one hundred and forty two poles to the north fork Nathan Wheeler's line, thence down the meanders of said fork to a line of Reuben Thompsons late Grant, thence West with his line twenty four poles to a fallen down Ironwood in John Thompsons line thence South with said line to a cedar seventy two poles in said school land line, thence East with P line thirteen poles to the beginning containing seventy three and one half acres. To have and hold the aforesaid land & bargained premises with all and singular the rights profits emoluments, hereditaments and appertainences of in and to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining to the only proper use and behoof of him the said Absalom Reeves his heirs and assigns forever and the sd Nathan Wheeler for himself his heirs Executors and administrators doth Covenant and agree to and with the said Absalom Reeves his heirs and assigns to warrant and forever defend the before described premises, against the lawfull claim or claims, of all and every person or persons whatever. In witness whereof the said Nathan Wheeler hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and date first above written. Signed Sealed & acknowledged in the presence of us
