Transcript

I Abraham Reeves of the Township of Northampton in the County of Burlington State of New Jersey being weak in body but of sound and disposing mind and memory, do make and publish this my last will and Testament in manner and form following
First It is my will and I do order and direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses be fully paid and satisfied as soon as conveniently can be after my decease
Second I do order and direct my executors herein after named to sell all my estate both real and personal and that at public or private sale as they may deem most to the advantage of my estate hereby authorizing them to make to the purchaser or purchasers of my real estate as good and sufficient title therefor as I myself could do were I alive and personally present
Third One half of my estate after the payment of my debts I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Mary Reeves, for her comfort and support & for the education and support of my children during their minority
Fourth The other half of my estate I direct my executors to place at interest on good security and the interest arising therefrom I direct to be paid annually to my beloved wife Mary Reeves, during her natural life or so long as she remains my widow and that for the same purpose as the other half of my estate was given her.
But if my said wife shall intermarry It is my will that she shall have such portion as the law directs. And shall my said wife decease previous to all my children attaining lawful age I direct the interest of this half of my estate or so much thereof as shall be necessary to be applied to the education and support of such of my children as shall be in their minority
Fifth After the decease of my beloved wife and after my youngest surviving child shall have attained lawful age It is my will and I do order and direct that the half part of my estate directed to be placed at interest be equally divided between my children namely Elwood, Isaac, Henry, Rebecca, Joseph, Anna, Stacy, Rachel, and Mary Reeves or the survivors of them. [The legal representatives of such as may be deceased to have the share of such deceased]
Sixth. And lastly I appoint my beloved wife Mary Reeves executrix and my Brother Zachariah Reeves executor of this my last will and Testament hereby revoking and annulling all former wills by me made. In witness thereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty second day of the first month in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty six (1836)

State of New Jersey Burlington County SS Elizabeth S Rogers and Amos Bullock two of the witnesses to the foregoing will alledging themselves to be conscientiously scrupulous of taking an oath and being duly affirmed according to law did declare and say that they saw Abraham Reeves the testator therein named sign and seal the same and heard him publish pronounce and declare the foregoing writing to be his last will and testament and that at the doing thereof the said testator was of sound and disposing mind and memory as far as these affirmants know and as they verily believe and that William S Bullock the other subscribing evidence was present at the same time and signed his name as a witness to the said will together with these affirmants in the presence of the said testator
