Transcript

This is the last Will and Testament of me Thomas Reeve the elder of Hadstock in the County of Essex Miller and farmer that is to say I give and devise unto my dear wife Catherine (interlined unreadable) and her herself? that my freehold messuage or tenement and premises in Linton in the Couty of Cambridge now in the occupation of James Howson and purchased by me of James Hutch to hold the same with the appurtenances unto and to the use of my said wife Catherine her heirs and assigns absolutely for ever
Item I give and bequeath unto my grandson William Phamphylon Reeve one of the children of my late son William Reeve now deceased and which said William Reeve was my son by my first wife Elizabeth formerly Elizabeth Andrews the sum of fifty pounds sterling
Item I give and bequeath unto my granddaughter Elizabeth Reeve one other of the children of my said late son William Reeve the sum of fifty pounds sterling
Item I give and bequeath unto my granddaughter Catherine Reeve one other of the children of my said late son the sum of fifty pounds sterling
Item I give and bequeath unto my granddaughter Sarah Reeve one other of the children of my said lte son the sum of fifty pounds sterling
Item I give and bequeath unto my grandson Thomas Reeve one other of the children of my said late son the sum of one hundred pounds sterling and as to all my money whether secured on mortgage of real estate or otherwise hereditaments vested in use by way of mortgage or as trustee furniture goods and chattels and the rest and residue of my real and personal estate and effects hereditaments and tenements whatsoever and wheresoever I give devise and bequeath the same subject to the payment of my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses unto my said dear wife Catherine her heirs executors administrators and assigns and for her own use absolutely for ever but it is my mind and will and I do hereby desire that the same may be taken and enjoyed by my said wife Catherine in lieu and bar of all dower free tenth. A thirds to which she may be in anywise lawfully entitled to as my widow and hereby revoke all wills by me at any time heretofore made I do declare this only to be my last will and testament and thereof do appoint my said wife Catherine and my son Richard Reeve of Shudy Camps in the County of Cambridge aforesaid miller and farmer executrix and executor
In witness whereof I the said Thomas Reeve the elder the testator have to this my last will and testament set my hand and seal the seventh day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty eight

Signed sealed published and declared by the said Thomas Reeve the elder the testator as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us who in his presence and at his request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses

Proved at London the 5th July 1843 before the Judge by the oath of Richard Reeve the son one of the executors to whom Admon was granted having been first sworn by commission only to administer power reserved of making the like grant to Catherine Reeve widow the relict the other executor when she shall apply for the same.
