Transcript

Know all men by these presents that I Samuel Reeves of the County Putnam and State of Indiana am sick and near unto death and do make this my last will and testament 1st I will and bequeath all of my personal and real estate to my beloved wife and use of my children so long as she remains my widow. 2nd If thare (sic) should not be money enough to pay off my debts for her to have full power to sell property and pay the same and to transact business for herself and the support of the children as she may think proper and kneedesetly require. 3rd It is also my request that my wife in? the aid of the family would give that litle afflicted son of mine g?? education. 4th It is also my request that when my son Thomas J. Reeves wishes to setle himself to build a hous on the farm and cooperate with his mother 5th whever my wife ceases to be my widdow and marry again then to be an equal division amongst my children. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my name. This the 20th August 1847.

Uponwhich said will the following proof is endorsed to wit:
State of Indiana, Putnam County: Before me William S. Townsend, Clerk of the Probate Court, on this sixteenth day of September A. D. 1847, personally appeared Willoughby Flinn and Thomas J Newton the subscribing witnesses to the within instrument of writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Samuel Reeves, who being by me duly sworn upon their oaths depose and say, that said testator departed this life on the twenty second day of August 1847: that the foregoing last will and testament was duly executed, signed and sealed by the said testator, and read over in the presence and hearing of said testator, and that he acknowledged the same to be his last will and testament in the presence of these deponents; and at the time of executing the same the said testator was of full age to devise his property and of sound mind and memory, and not under any coercion or restraint whatever, that these deponents subscribed their names as witnesses to the said will in the presence of said testator, and that said testator at the time resided in said County of Putnam, and further say not.

Townsend, Clerk of the Probate Court in and for said County, in said State, do hereby certify that the above and foregoing is a true and complete record of the last will and testament of Samuel Reeves late of said County deceased and of the proof and examination of Willoughby Flinn and Thomas J Newton the witnesses to the same and the attestation thereto. Witness my hand at Greencastle this sixteenth day of September Anno Domini 1847
