Transcript

Unto all whom it may concern be it known by these presents that I Gilbert Reeve of the Township of Milburn in the County of Essex and State of New Jersey being now in possession of sound mind do hereby make declare and publish this my last Will and Testament. First, I give and bequeath unto my wife Charlotte all my household and kitchen furniture, cookery, silverware, books, beds bedding and clothes. I also give unto her the use of my dwelling house and the use and income of all of the remainder of my estate both real and personal so long as she remains my widow. Second, when my wife Charlotte ceased to be the incumbant of my estate I direct that my executors hereinafter named shall make a special investment of one thousand dollars from my estate for purposes hereinafter specified. Third. The remainder of my estate after deducting one thousand dollars as before directed I give and bequeath unto my seven children viz Abner, William, Ezra, Jonas, David, Phebe, and Harriet, each to have an equal share except David, whose share is to be three hundred dollars less than that of each of the others and is to be held in trust by my executors hereinafter named the interest or income thereof to be paid over to him as long as he shall live, after his decease the principle to be paid to his children share and share alike or in case of their death to his lawful heirs. Fourth, I give and bequeath to my daughter Harriet the interest or increase of the one thousand dollars before mentioned so long as she lives unmarried. Fifth. At the marriage or decease of my daughter Harriet the aforementioned one thousand dollars to be divided equally amongst all my aforementioned children or their heirs, David share being held in trust for his use and at his death to be paid to his lawful heirs as before directed in regard to his other share of the estate. Sixthly I do nominate and appoint my sons Abner S Reeve and William B Reeve executors of this my last will and Testament,
Seventh In the excercise of faith in Christ and in hope of a more glorius estate in heaven, I do hereby commend myself and all to whom these presents refer unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord Amen. In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal this Twenty ninth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty two.

Essex County: William R Sayre one of the witnesses to the annexed writing purporting to be the Last Will and Testament of Gilbert Reeve the testator therein named deceased being duly sworn doth say that he saw the said testator sign and seal the said annexed writing and heard him publish and pronounce and declare the same as and for his last Will and Testament that at the time of the doing thereof the said testator was of sound disposing mind memory and understanding as far as this deponent knows and as he verily believes; that Walter S Reeve the other subscribing witness thereto was present at the same time with the deponent and together with...his name thereto as a witness in the presence of the testator and of each other at the request of the testator and that the testator died more than ten days ago.
