                    State of North Carolina
To the Sheriff of Montgomery County: Greeting
          Whereas Sallie Reeve widow of Jesse Reeves deceased lately filed her petition to our court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions against Eli Reeves James Reeves Harris Reeves Noah Reeves Wilson Reeves Tilman Reeves Thos Taylor & wife Mary & others heirs at law of her said husband and it was ordered by this court that a writ of Dower should be issued to the Sheriff in her behalf an to the following lands tenements and hereditaments of which her said husband died seized and possessed to wit a tract of land situated in said county adjoining the lands of Tilmon Reeves Harris Reeves Thos. J. Toney & others & lying on Beaver Dam Creek containing one hundred acres more or less.
         These are to command you to summon twelve free holders connected with the parties within by consanguinity or affinity or entirely disinterested who after being duly sworn by you are to allot & set apart to the said Sallie Reeves by proper metes and bounds one third of all the said lands tenements & hereditaments including therein the Dwelling house all offices and out houses buildings & improvements thereunto belonging or in any way appertaining during the term of her natural life & to put her in possession of the same and the allotment made by said ? after being reduced to writing you are to return at the next Court of Pleas& Quarter Sessions to be held for the County of Montgomery at the Court House in Troy on the 1st Monday in Jan 1866 together with this Writ.
