The biography of Susan's son Thomas Henderson Glidewell, published in the history of Saline County, Arkansas states that Thomas Glidewell, Sr. was an overseer in Wake County for four years. After their marriage and living for several years in the neighborhood where Susan's family lived, in 1823 Thomas Glidewell took his young family and settled in Lincoln County, Tennessee where on 12 Jul 1835 Susan died.

No definitive proof has been found thus far linking Susan Allen to Mary Reeves and Bartlett Allen; however, based upon research of the Allen families in Wake County at the time of Susan's birth and marriage to Thomas Glidewell, it is reasonably certain that she is their child. An 1819 tax list for the Fishdam District in Wake County, shows Thomas Glidewell with 336 acres several households from John Reeves. This district has always been the home of the Bartlett Allen family. Bartlett Allen does not appear to have left a will and none of his children are mentioned in his Revolutionary War pension file.

It is worthy of note that Susan's daughter Mary Ann Glidewell Steelman Melson named one of her children the given name "Reeves".

Research Notes

Although autosomal DNA is not perfect, Reeves descendants from the family of William Reeves have numerous DNA matches to descendants of this Glidewell family and Bartlett and Mary Reeves Allen.
