Narrative
Caroline, the daughter of John Cooper and Sarah (nee mnu) was baptised at the Parish Church of St Mary, Alverstoke on 6 Januray 1822.On the 1841 census, a Caroline Cooper, aged 20 appears in Alverstoke working as a Female Servant.
Caroline Cooper married Frederick Reeves on 17 September 1849 at the Parish Church of St Thomas, Portsmouth, Hampshire.
The known children of Frederick Reeves and Caroline (nee Cooper) are
- Sarah Ann Reeves, bapt April 1850
- Lucy Reeve (sic), bapt September 1851
At the time of the 1851 census, Caroline is lodging with her younger sister Emma Charlton (nee Cooper). Caroline's husband Frederick has not been identified on the 1851 census, but their two daughters Sarah and Lucy are living with Caroline. Caroline claims birth in Alverstoke and is shown as 29 years old. She has no occupation recorded.
Caroline Reeves has not be found on the 1861 or 1871 census returns. In 1861 her elder daughter Sarah is living with Frederick's parents Robert Reeves & Mary Ann and her younger daughter Lucy is living with her parents, John & Sarah Cooper. Her husband Frederick's household includes a wife Mary Ann along with his brother Joseph and his wife. It is therefore probable Caroline died between the 1851 cnesus and the 1861 census. FreeBMD has two possible Death Registrations, both in Portsea (Isle) Registration District. The first in 1q1854 and the second in 2q1854. Further research on this individual would be helpful.
