William Copeland first married his cousin Elizabeth Betsy Dunn in Oglethorpe County in 1800. After her death sometime on 7 Oct 1836, in Harris County, Georgia on 15 Dec 1839, he married her widowed sister Mary Polly Dunn, widow of Waters M. Dunn, Sr.
