In 1777, Waters Dunn Sr., Richard Dunn and Waters Dunn, Jr. were recorded on the tax lists of Pittsylvania County. Also in 1777, in the newly formed Henry County, Virginia, the following persons renounced allegiance to Great Britain, swearing allegiance to the Commonwealth of Virginia - Waters Dunn, Gatewood Dunn, Richard Dunn and Waters Dunn, Jr.
