Evaline Geer was named as Evaline Blasingame in the Greene County will of her father, William Geer.

When James Powell Blasingame's father Phillip wrote his will in 1825, William Geer was one of the witnesses so it appears that the families of Evaline and James had been associated for some time before their marriage.

All three of the sons of Evaline Geer and James P. Blasingame volunteered in April of 1862 for service in Co. H of the 42nd Georgia Infantry of the CSA. All three were also in the seige of Vicksburg, Mississippi. With the fall of Vicksburg, John and Beverly became prisoners of war being released in July of 1863, but William died there in May.
