James Madison Geer and Frances S. Echols had the following children:

There is very little available information regarding the life of James Madison Geer. He is named as a legatee in the 1843 will of William Geer probated in Greene County, Georgia in March of 1844. He was appointed an executor, along with his brother John L. Geer, of that will.

He and his family are listed in the 1850 census of Monroe County, Georgia but can be found in no future census records nor can his wife Frances.

Most of his sons enlist in Georgia regiments of the Confederacy initially but transfer to Florida regiments during the course of the war and are found living there immediately following the end of the war.
