Narrative

There is very little known of John T. Latta other than the 1850 census, the few records of his service in the Confederacy and the entry of his birth in the Martha Latta Moore family bible.

He is recorded as enlisting in Co. K, 7th Regiment Arkansas Infantry of the CSA on 26 July 1861 and having been wounded at the Battle of Shiloh on 6 Apr 1862. On 16 July 1862 he was discharged at Tupelo, Mississippi which may have been due to the wounds received at Shiloh in April.

The family bible of his half sister, Martha Latta Moore, reportedly gave the above date for his death.
