Known Children of Edward Reavis and Elizabeth Doyle:
  1. William A. Reavis, b. 1806, NC, d. 1866, TX.
  2. Wilson O. Reavis, b. 1815, NC, d. 1873, TX.
Edward Reavis married Elizabeth Doyle, born about 1781 in NC. She died 1 June 1854 in Leon Co., TX. A marriage bond for them was filed in Rutherford Co., NC, in 1802, with John Doyle, Jr., as bondsman.

Edward and Elizabeth moved from North Carolina to Franklin Co., Tennessee. They later moved into Georgia and Alabama, finally settling in Talladega County, where Edward died in 1845. Elizabeth afterwards moved to Leon Co., TX, with younger members of the family. Edward is said to be buried in Talladega Springs Cemetery, Talladega Co., AL; Elizabeth is buried in an unlettered grave in Mount Pisgah Cemetery, Leon Co., TX.

Edward and Elizabeth appear to be the couple enumerated in Marshall Co., AL, in 1840. Marshall County is directly south of Franklin Co., TN, where Edward and Elizabeth had previously lived, and directly north of Talladega County, Alabama, where Edward is buried.

Research Notes

This family is discussed in Marie Reavis Hall's The Reavis Family in America since 1700. Hall indicates that Edward was a son of David Reavis (1748-1826) and Gemima Reed (1750-1841), who are believed to be buried in the Reavis Cemetery, Cooper Co., MO. David Reavis, in turn, is there identified as a son of James Reavis (c. 1719- c. 1804) and Elizabeth Street (c. 1723 - c. 1790). This lineage has not been verified. The Reavis Family in America since 1700 further identifies Elizabeth Doyle Reavis as a daughter of James Doyle and Elizabeth Reavis and a granddaughter of James Reavis and Elizabeth Street.
