Arthur may have died in Florida in the United States. The 1901 census states that Louise and Alice were born in Florida. While it states that Frederick was born in Broomfield, one of his war records states he was born in Florida as well.

In 1901, the widow Emily was living in Broomfield, Chelmsford St. Mary, Essex, age 32. With her are Nellie (14), Louise (8), Alice M. (6) and Frederick A. (3).

In 1911, Emily and her son Frederick (13) were boarders in the household of John Smith in Chelmsford.
