Narrative

Frederick Albert Reeve's birth was registered in December quarter 1897 in Chelmsford, no mother's maiden name given in the index.

In 1901, Frederick was age 3, born in Broomfield, Essex, living in Broomfield, in his mother Emily's household. He had a sister Nellie born in 1887 whose baptism states that her parents were Arthur and Emily. The census indicates that the two siblings between himself and Nellie were born in Florida in the United States. And the Soldiers Died in the Great War database states Frederick was as well.

In 1911, Frederick (13) and his mother Emily were boarders in the household of John Smith in Chelmsford.

Frederick was a soldier in the Essex Regiment during World War I. The Pension Ledger and Index card states he died 14 Apr 1917, service number 32991, and gives mother's name as Emily.

Commonwealth War Graves Commission entry states the following:
REEVE, Pte. Frederick Albert, 32991. 1st Bn. Essex Regt. 14th April, 1917. Age 19. Son of Mrs. E. Reeve, of 9, Baker St., Chelmsford, Essex.

Research Notes

Note that oddly, the record for the Soldiers Died in the Great War database states he was born in Florida in the United States. No other record supports that, although some of his older siblings were according to the census.
