From Willingale Spain, St Andrew, Essex Parish Register:
- 1613 April xviii James Reeve, sonn of Hugh Reeve
In his father's will, he is described as "my sonne Jeames alias Huigh Reive."
We find him in later parish records in Willingale Spain as Hugh:

- John Reeve Cobler and the sonne of Hugh Reeve was buried on the 23 day of May 1658
His eldest daughter appears to be the one recorded in Shellow Bowells register. Shellow Bowells is very close to Willingale Spain.
- Marie Reeve the daughter of Hugh Reeve and Marie his wife was baptized the first daye of Septeber Anno Dom 1639
From the Essex Archives:
- Recognizance of John Crossingham husbandman, Nathl. Crossingham blacksmith, both of Norton Mandeville, and Hugh Reeve of Willingale husbandman; John to answer concerning suspicion of stealing deer out of the park of Lord Petre called Writtle Park. [see Q/SR 312/119.] (Q/SR 312/96)
- Recognizance of John Motte "golder" and James alias Hugh Reeve husbandman; both of Willingale Spain; Motte to answer (as in 83), in writtle Park. [See 95] (Q/SR 319/84)
Research Notes
The Hugh who was in 1646 is presumably this Hugh and not his son Hugh. But further research should keep in mind that possibility.Sources
