Note that the dates given in the two records are one day apart.

The widow Elizabeth wrote her will on 25 Jun 1812 and it was proved 22 Mar 1820. She states she was of the parish of Cutchogue. She and James are buried in the old burying ground in Cutchogue. She died 4 Nov 1819.

Note that the death from the Salmon records is different from the headstone transcription.

James would appear to be the one listed in the 1790 census in Southold on p118 next to David Tuttle and several doors down from Thomas Wells who also appear as neighbors of Elizabeth in 1800.

His widow and daughter are in a household in Southold in 1800. There are two slaves in the household with them. These are presumably Limus and Jenny Reeve who were freed by Elizabeth in her will.
