Narrative

Children of John Reeve:
  1. Joane Reeve, m. John Bett

From Epping (Later Epping Upland), All Saints, Essex Parish Register:
  • 1564 (1565) February vi John Reve & xteen? Frynche (or Fynche) (recording in second book says Christian Fynche)
  • 1593 March 30 John Reeve
  • 1598 April 22 Widdow Reeve

The will of John Reeve names the following individuals:
  • Thomas Reve my sonne
  • Joane Bett my daughter now the wife of John Bett
  • Anne Ffinch..Sara Finch (daughters of)...Thomas Ffinch my sonne in lawe
  • Samuell Finch the sonne of John Finch my sonne in law
  • John Jenynge sonne of John Jenynge my sone in lawe
  • Daye? Brewer the daughter of Richard Brewer my sonne in lawe
  • Elizabeth Brewer the daughter of the said Richard Brewer my sonne in law
  • Margarett Fletcher one of the daughters of Joane Fletcher my daughter in lawe deceased
  • Richard Fletcher the sonne of the same Joane my daughter in law
  • Thomas Ffinche my sonne in lawe
  • Christian my wife

Note that the "in-law" terms were often used for step-children and could therefore refer to the wife Christian's children by a previous marriage. This fits well with the marriage record found for them in the Epping register.

Joane Bett is the only one specifically stated to be his daughter. This appears to be the marriage for her from Navestock, St Thomas the Apostle, Essex Parish Register:
  • John Bett and Joan Reve were married the xiiiith of October...(1565)
